Valentine’s Day is about a month away so I figured it’s not too early to start throwing subs [i.e. subliminal messages] at bae for all the things I want. And what better way than to blog about it? I started off with 18 pages full of all things that I would like to receive, but who wants to read that? So here are my top 5
1. Not a bunch of flowers, but a bunch of plantains
I remember the first time I got flowers from someone. It was a sweet gesture but honestly, my first thought was “what do people do with these?”. Flowers are fine and I actually appreciate their beauty but think about it: you can’t consume (most of) them and they require effort to stay alive – effort that I can’t be bothered to put in. So unfortunately, all the flowers I have ever gotten die and wither away within a few days. Now, there’s plantain:
Unlike flowers, there’s a lot one can do with plantain. You can boil, fry, roast, sauté etc. But most importantly, you can eat them. And to top it off, plantains can look just as beautiful or sometimes even more beautiful than flowers. Given the numerous benefits outlined above, I think I have convinced you that nothing says “I love you” like a bunch of plantains. I dare someone to refute that.
2. Cards, gift cards that is
I cannot begin to imagine why some people don’t like gift cards. It’s beyond me. And the reason behind their disdain is usually something like “oh, gift cards are so thoughtless” or “they are so impersonal and unromantic”.
I really think people have a false sense of romance. Seriously. What screams romance more than “take this and buy anything you like”? Really, the only thing better than a gift card is money.
Secretly, I want a Walmart gift card.
3. Chocolates or Weave?
Weave, thank you.
4. Designer stuff
(Hater alert). Don’t you just hate it when girls – and sometimes guys – post on social media bags and boxes of designer stuff that their bae has just bought them? And their captions usually say something like “omg, stuff from bae. I never expected it. You’re the best! I love you to the moon and back”. When I see it, I just want to slap them out of it like this
So what I’m really trying to say is that: yes please, I would like some designer stuff too.
Here are a few jewelry ideas to give you an idea of what I’m talking about
Not too shabby eh? 🙂
What is your own valentine’s day wish list? Bae reads my blog, so I am hoping he will get the message. But I don’t like to leave things to chance, so give me a second while I spam his inbox with the link, print this blog post out and tape it to his front door. In fact, you can all help too! Just share this blog post and email it to him. His email address is IfIWriteItTheNextTimeIwriteIwontHaveaBaeAnymore@bae.com
Finally, a thought just crossed my mind: valentines day is usually about the girls, why not switch it up and make it about the guys this year?
Better luck next year.
